John Norman Marshall Nicolson (John 2..Known as Norman). First chief born in Tasmania. Born at "Camelford", Campbell Town, one of six children to John (ex Skye) and Marion. Jackarooed on the mainland for Godfrey MacKinnon and eventually came back to Tasmania to run the family farm after his fathers death. "Camelford was eventually sold, due to his inability to pay out his siblings. JNM crossed the Elizabeth and married the daughter of his neighbour, Jessie Finlay. They had four children, three boys and a girl. Sadly, Jessie died shortly following the birth of her fourth child. Not to be deterred, JNM crossed the Elizabeth River again and married his sister in law, Amelia Finlay. JNM eventually purchased another property west of Campbell Town on the Macquarie River, called "Streanshalh". The property is still in the family today and operated by my wonderful cousin John Andrew (known as Andrew) and his wife Judith. JNM was instrumental in establishing the corriedale breed of sheep in Tasmania and was a very respected member of the community.
