A Worldwide Family Tied Together by MacNicol Heritage
Clan MacNicol's chiefs were long known as Nicolson of Scorrybreac, taking their territorial designation from their land near Portree on the Isle of Skye, but the Chief has adopted the original Gaelic surname of MacNeacail, from which the Clan now takes its name. The Clan has very active participation in Clan Societies in Britain, North America and Australasia as well as locations in Europe. These Clan Societies make up The Highland Clan MacNeacail Federation.

The Isle of Skye, (Scottish Gaelic: An t-Eilean Sgitheanach or Eilean a' Cheò) is located off the West coast of the Scottish mainland, and is the largest and most northerly island of the Inner Hebrides. The peninsulas of Skye are often compared to the wings of a bird; Trotternish in the north, Waternish, Duirinish, Minginish and Strathaird to the west and Sleat are those coastline peninsulas.
