OUR CHIEF

John MacNeacail of MacNeacail and Scorrybreac and his wife, Jenni

John MacNeacail of MacNeacail and Scorrybreac, Chief of the Highland Clan MacNeacail...

Clan MacNeacail is a very ancient highland clan based on the Isle of Skye, a society which is very active today. The clan now has a strong membership in British Isles, Australasia, and North America. Its Clan Societies around the world are members of The Highland Clan MacNeacail Federation. Clan newsletters are published in Australia and North America.

John became Chief on the death of his father, Iain, in October 2003. He resides in Ballina, NSW (New South Wales), with his wife, Jenni, and they have two sons, the Clan Tanist, Luke, born in Canberra in 1979, and Adam, born in Pambula, in 1983.

As Skye traditions strongly suggest that there are twenty eight MacNeacail Chiefs buried on St. Columba's Island, Scotland, and assuming that the last or 28 Chief to be buried there was Donald, who died about 1825 and the last chief to die in Skye... John should be considered the 34th Chief

Clan MacNicol of North America

North American Society was formed for the continued promotion and preservation of  the heritage of the Clan MacNicol. It is a part of an international society with branches around the world; in North America, Australasia, and Scotland. All are dedicated to preserving and promoting our common heritage and culture.

The Society does more than preserve history. It actively promotes, fosters and encourages the family spirit of the Clan MacNicol (Nicholson) among its members around the world through social association and friendship among the members of the Society and Clan.

Clan MacNicol of North America

Is dedicated to informing and educating members of the society about both their clan history and culture.  The Society as it is constituted around the world is also dedicated to preserving Clan MacNicol history in the North America, Australasia and Scotland.

The Society participates in Highland games across North America. The main purpose of this activity is to promote the clan and Scottish culture-the other reason is because it is fun.
To illustrate our dedication to preserving our heritage, the Clan MacNicol Federation has successfully raised funds to purchase back and maintain Clan lands in Scotland for the greater Clan use at International gatherings and upon visits by individual members to the clan’s homeland on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

In Kinship,

The Highland Clan MacNicol Society and Federation!
